Nerve Conduction Velocity Testing

Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) testing  is an electrical test that can be used to detect nerve disorders or muscles affected by a nerve injury. Using electrode patches at various locations of the skin, one electrode stimulates the nerve with a mild electrical impulse while the second detects the electrical impulse from the first. The space/distance between the electrodes, along with the amount of time it takes to travel are used to calculate the speed of the nerve’s impulse. The resulting activity is recorded and interpreted by a board certified neurologist and generated into a report for the doctor to distinguish nerve disease/damage/destruction.
